Anyone wanting to try a new sport without the often-expensive investment in equipment should stop by the West Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department to check out its new sports packs.
Santa Maria Valley broadcasting pioneer James M. “Joe” Hagerman, who also was a key figure in shaping the city’s recreation and parks programs for nearly four decades, is being remembered for his extensive community involvement.
Prospect Park and Recreation is sponsoring a swimming camp for Aug. 18-22 that is designed for competitive high school swimmers. The camp will run daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Woodland Regional High School.
