1-800-Flowers expands gift basket line with acquisition (InternetRetailer.com)

1-800-Flowers.com Inc. has acquired DesignPac Gifts LLC, a Melrose Park, IL-based designer and assembler of gourmet gift baskets. DesignPac Gifts also produces other food gifts including a range of branded and private label components. The purchase price was approximately $36 million in cash.

Students to raise money for cystic fibrosis (The News-Times)

DANBURY -- Five themed baskets will be raffled Sunday to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in a project organized by two Danbury High School seniors.Emily Hart and Kristina Bundra will raffle baskets with restaurant gift certificates, spa materials, tickets to sporting events and summer activities worth $2,100 at the annual Great Strides Walkathon, which benefits the foundation.

Jam maker The J.M. Smucker Co. on Tuesday said it acquired food maker ConAgra Foods Inc.'s Knott's Berry Farm brand. Financial terms were not disclosed. Knott's Berry Farm produces and markets jam, jellies, preserves and gift baskets.
