Fabian Gomez, 24, was convicted July 3 of voluntary manslaughter, aggravated battery, battery and criminal recklessness, according to the Lake County (Ind.) Prosecutor's office. Jurors acquitted him of murder after two hours of deliberations. He was sentenced to 40 years in prison Friday.
