Sir Salman Rushdie favourite as readers vote for Best of the Booker award (Times Online)

To celebrate 40 years of the Man Booker literary prize, a shortlist of six past winners has been drawn up, from which one will be picked by the public for a Best of the Booker award.

The first Jackson Heights Poetry Festival, a three-day event that opens on Thursday, will feature workshops, poetry slams and outdoor readings.
